Letter from the CEO

There’s a simple sentence I hope everyone who encounters Condor has reason to say: “I’m glad you’re here.” Whether it’s a resident arriving home, a client facing an unexpected challenge, or a new employee seeking guidance, those words capture our purpose: bringing safety and peace of mind to our clients and communities.

To our newest team members, welcome. Bring your questions, ideas and personality. You don’t need to know everything; just come ready to learn, contribute and grow.

To our senior team members, never underestimate the difference you make. A thoughtful explanation, a word of encouragement or a strong example can build a colleague’s confidence and shape their path. Thank you for helping make Condor such a special team.

Our recent Ride to Conquer Cancer offered another reason to be proud. In our 12th year participating, Team Condor & Team Knightstone raised $161,000 for cancer research. It was a powerful expression of social commitment and our responsibility to the communities we serve. That same spirit drives our investment in training. Developing our people helps us better care for those who depend on us.

To our clients, thank you for your trust. To those getting to know Condor, I hope you discover capable, well-trained professionals who take their responsibilities seriously while making time for a warm welcome.

I’m proud of what we’re accomplishing together. Keep learning, look out for one another and remember: a small act of care can make a lasting difference. Let’s keep giving people a reason to say, “I’m glad you’re here.”

Welcome: About Condor Ascent

Welcome to Condor Ascent—a look into the people, ideas, training and defining moments that continue to move Condor Security forward.

In this issue, we take you behind the scenes of our Mobile Command Unit and new training facility. We recognize employees who stepped up when it mattered most, trace the evolution of our training programs, and celebrate the community initiatives, partnerships and achievements that reflect what we believe: security is, above all, a people business.

Equipment matters. Technology matters. Procedures matter. But the strength of every security operation begins with a prepared person—someone ready to think clearly, communicate effectively, respond with confidence and lead with care.

Condor Mobile Command: Security on-the-go

Some security operations come to you. Others require you to bring the operation with you. That is the idea behind Condor Security’s Mobile Command Unit, a flexible field resource designed to help our teams stay connected, organized and operational wherever additional support is needed.

Inside is a compact command environment equipped with screens, communications technology and operational resources that can support monitoring, coordination and field response. Storage areas keep essential site and operational supplies within reach. A refrigerator and employee wellness resources help support personnel during longer deployments. Workstations give supervisors and team members a central location from which to coordinate information and resources.

Whether supporting an event, responding to an emerging operational requirement or providing extra resources to a security team in the field, the goal is simple: put the right information, equipment and support closer to the people who need it. Security may increasingly rely on technology, but good operations still depend on communication, organization and prepared people. Sometimes, those people just happen to have a command centre on wheels.

Inside Condor’s Facility

Walk into Condor Headquarters today and you may hear the sound of a training drill in one area, a fitness session in another, and a coffee machine doing equally important work nearby.

Our evolving facility was designed around a simple idea: professional readiness does not come from one classroom or one course. It develops through practice, repetition, physical preparation, conversation, coaching and recovery.

A dedicated training and drill area allows team members to work through practical exercises, emergency-response scenarios and ongoing professional-development programs. The fitness space supports strength, mobility, conditioning and long-term employee wellness.

Because nobody operates at their best without an opportunity to recharge, the facility also incorporates comfortable employee spaces, a wellness shelf and everyday amenities. It is a workplace, training centre and gathering point that represents the direction in which Condor continues to evolve.

Training—Level 1: Laying the foundation

Every profession has fundamentals. In security, those fundamentals matter because small decisions can have very real consequences.

Condor’s Level 1 Pre-Qualifying Basic Security Training introduces prospective employees to the standards, expectations and practical skills that shape work at Condor. Candidates entering the program have already progressed through Condor’s recruitment process and hold the appropriate Ontario security licence. Then the real learning begins.

Participants work on communication, customer service, emergency response, legal responsibilities, health and safety, reporting and practical scenarios designed to move learning beyond the page. Training emphasizes professionalism, attitude, communication, judgment and participation—qualities that cannot be measured by a uniform alone.

Successful participants earn Condor Level 1 certification and take their first formal step into the Condor Evolution. The objective is not merely to finish training; it is to arrive at the first assignment better prepared for what the job actually looks like.

Quote: “Interactive stressful scenario-based learning.” (Vanee A.)

Training—Level 2: Confidence under pressure

Experience changes the questions security professionals ask. At the beginning, the question may be: “What am I supposed to do?” Later, it becomes: “Can I still do it properly when the situation becomes difficult?” That is where Condor Level 2 comes in.

Designed for employees with field experience and the required certifications, Level 2 builds on the fundamentals by introducing more complex concepts in risk awareness, emergency response, tactical communication, medical scene management and professional decision-making.

There is classroom learning. And then there are the stress drills. Those exercises are deliberately uncomfortable, not because discomfort is the objective, but because controlled pressure exposes how communication, attention and decision-making can change when stress rises.

Quote: “I enjoyed the stress drills. I feel a lot more confident performing my duties under stress.” (Ryan D.)

View Training—Level 2: Confidence under pressure in the magazine

Training—Level 3: When the pressure rises

Level 3 is not designed to make security professionals look impressive. It is designed to reveal how they perform.

Available to qualifying Condor employees who have completed prerequisite training and gained relevant field experience, the program combines physical conditioning, emergency-response exercises, communication, lawful defensive skills and scenario-based decision-making.

Before beginning, candidates undergo an evaluation process that looks at job knowledge, professional readiness and physical capacity. Then the challenge starts.

Participants are required to communicate while tired, solve problems while under pressure, work as a team and continue applying professional judgment as circumstances change. Physical capability without judgment is not professional readiness. Neither is technical knowledge without communication. Level 3 is demanding because the profession can be demanding.

Quote: “Although those pushing limits parts were so horrible, they helped me determine that I can do more than I imagine.” (Irene C.)

Customer Service Training: Elevating the standard

In luxury residential and commercial environments, exceptional security combines vigilance with outstanding service. Condor’s Customer Service Training Program prepares security professionals to communicate confidently, manage challenging situations, and create a welcoming experience.

Backed by more than 20 years of industry experience, Condor treats security and customer service as complementary responsibilities. The program covers professional communication and active listening; conflict resolution and de-escalation; problem-solving and complaint management; service excellence and professional etiquette; and balancing hospitality with security protocols.

Quote: “The instructor made the training very enjoyable by engaging each and every one of us. I felt the day passed far too quickly. I would recommend the course to others and would participate in it again.” (Joel T.)

Meet the Instructor: Mona Chona

Customer service and professional etiquette training is essential because security professionals are often the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and the public. By developing communication, active listening, conflict management, and problem-solving skills, they can confidently handle challenging situations while creating a safe and welcoming environment. These skills build trust and help security professionals become more approachable, effective, and professional.

Mona Chona is a Customer Service and Professional Etiquette Trainer with Condor Security. A Seneca College graduate, she has more than 25 years of experience in customer service, business development, client onboarding, training, and relationship management across the public and private sectors. Drawing on her real-world experience, Mona helps security professionals develop the confidence, communication skills, and professionalism needed to deliver exceptional service and represent their organizations positively.

Verbal Judo: Words as shields

Developed by Dr. George Thompson, Verbal Judo uses empathy, active listening and strategic language to de-escalate conflict. Condor Security has adapted this proven system for private security and condominium concierge professionals.

Verbal Judo is a structured approach to tactical communication built around empathy, active listening, professional presence and purposeful language. Condor Security is proud to have been the first security company in Canada certified to teach Verbal Judo to its staff. Since 2009, the program has helped employees manage difficult conversations while protecting safety, dignity and professional boundaries.

Participants learn frameworks for listening, paraphrasing, explaining options and guiding conversations toward voluntary cooperation. A professional who knows how to slow a conversation down, identify the actual issue and communicate clearly can often change the direction of an interaction before it becomes something more serious.

Quote: “The course was better than I ever imagined. It was engaging, interesting, and very helpful. I believe that if every responsible citizen knew how to apply Verbal Judo properly, there would be less conflict, crime, violence, and war.” (Julia P.)

First Aid and CPR Training: When seconds matter

In an emergency, every second matters. The ability to remain calm, assess a situation, and respond quickly can make a critical difference. That is why First Aid and CPR training remains an important part of Condor’s ongoing employee development and training programs.

Team members receive training designed to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to respond to a range of medical emergencies. From recognizing when someone requires immediate assistance to providing appropriate first aid and CPR until professional medical help arrives, these skills can be invaluable in moments when help is needed most.

Beyond learning technical skills, the training emphasizes the importance of staying composed under pressure. Participants learn how to assess situations, communicate effectively, and take appropriate action in challenging circumstances. For security professionals, this knowledge is particularly important because officers may be among the first to respond in residential communities, commercial properties, public spaces and other environments.

At Condor Security, training is not a one-time requirement. It reflects an ongoing commitment to ensuring employees remain prepared, confident, and capable when it matters most.

Tactical Awareness Training: Scenario-based field skills

Strong security work begins long before anything happens. It begins with noticing change: an unusual shift in behaviour, someone repeatedly watching an access point, a conversation becoming increasingly agitated or an environment that simply feels different. Condor’s Tactical Awareness training helps security professionals notice and assess these subtle changes.

The program teaches participants to recognize changes in body language, tone and behaviour that may signal a developing threat, helping them respond earlier and protect themselves and others. The goal is not to treat every unusual action as a threat; effective situational awareness means observing carefully without jumping to unsupported conclusions.

Through interactive instruction and realistic exercises, participants develop practical skills in behavioural analysis (identifying unusual or concerning behaviour), effective interviewing (gathering information while maintaining a safe position), flash drills (practicing communication and rapid threat assessment under pressure), and clear articulation (understanding legal responsibilities and documenting actions).

Participants also learn how stress can affect awareness, reasoning and performance, and how to reduce errors during important and challenging situations. The program equips security professionals to trust their training, recognize warning signs, identify safe entry and exit points, and take proactive steps to prevent escalation.

Quote: “Tactical Awareness is very much important and beneficial inside and outside the workplace. It has taught me to cope with different factors in real life for safe and protective daily living.” (Naresh G.)

FireSafe Training: Ready before the alarm sounds

In the high‑stakes world of property management and security services, theoretical knowledge is a baseline but real‑world readiness saves lives. Under the pressure and stress of a life‑safety emergency, supervisory staff are legally mandated to perform strict, precise procedures. To bridge the gap between regulatory compliance and hands‑on confidence, Condor Security delivers its comprehensive FireSafe training program.

A comprehensive curriculum. The FireSafe program is designed to build complete situational awareness through a blend of legal education and practical application. The curriculum includes:

Legislation & Codes: A deep dive into the Ontario Fire Code and related legal responsibilities.

Live Fire Suppression: Crucial, hands‑on experience safely extinguishing real, controlled fires.

Facility Systems Tours: A live walkthrough of a facility to analyze real‑world fire safety and building systems.

Supervised Drills: Practical fire drill simulations executed under the direct supervision and evaluation of a fire captain.

Unified Response Strategy: Clarifying the distinct, interlocking roles of supervisory staff, security guards, property managers, and arriving firefighters.

The power of frontline experience. What sets the FireSafe program apart is the calibre of its instruction. The courses are developed and guided by active firefighters, led by an active Fire Captain who serves as a Master Training Facilitator through the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.

By aligning the curriculum with the rigorous NFPA 601‑2010 standard (Standard for Security Services in Fire Loss Prevention), the training goes far beyond standard classroom lectures. Participants are mentored by professionals who handle live emergencies daily, bringing invaluable, real‑time insights into the classroom and the field.

“The best part of the training was the experience and knowledge which the instructors possessed. Also, being able to mimic a ‘real fire’ situation.”—Quresh K.

“We learned a lot of things that we should do at our job sites.”—Prudencio A.

ASP Training: Judgment before equipment

Condor Security is proud to have been the first security company in Canada certified to teach ASP use‑of‑force systems and certify participants—a distinction held since 2010.

Condor’s ASP training is available to appropriately qualified personnel and covers legal responsibilities, safety, communication, decision‑making and practical skills in accordance with Ontario requirements and company policy. Technical instruction may include equipment handling and defensive applications, but the most important question is broader: Should force be used at all?

Security professionals are expected to act lawfully, responsibly and proportionately. This means understanding not only how a technique or piece of equipment works, but also when intervention is appropriate, how communication can reduce the need for force and what responsibilities follow its use.

Scenario‑based training brings these considerations together. Participants may have only moments to observe, communicate, choose an appropriate response and adapt as circumstances change.

That is why responsible training emphasizes sound judgment, disciplined decision‑making and repetition, not bravado. Professional security is not about seeking confrontation. It is about having the preparation and confidence to manage difficult situations responsibly when they cannot be avoided.

What is the ASP Use of Force System? Developed by Dr. Kevin Parsons, Ph.D., ASP is an internationally recognized law enforcement and security system used in more than 100 countries. It is trusted by agencies including the Toronto Police Service, OPP, RCMP, and Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

“I found this training very useful. It helps us to manage the situation under control when there is danger. It helps me in normal life too.”—Vanee A.

Service Spotlight: Close Protection

Our Executive Protection Division delivers personalized security solutions for corporate executives, politicians, celebrities, high‑net‑worth individuals, and clients facing elevated security risks.

Effective executive protection is built around discretion, preparation and a clear understanding that every client faces a different set of risks. Routes may need to be assessed, venues reviewed and transportation coordinated. Schedules must be understood, potential vulnerabilities identified and contingency plans put in place. Depending on the assignment, Condor’s protection specialists may also work closely with security teams, venue staff and other protective partners to support a coordinated operation.

The objective is not to create a visible barrier around the client. It is to build a protective structure that allows them to work, travel and attend engagements with confidence and minimal disruption.

Condor’s approach combines experienced personnel with threat and risk assessment, secure transportation, advance work and detailed operational planning. Each element supports a service designed around the client’s circumstances, priorities and environment.

The best protection is often the least dramatic. The meeting takes place. The trip stays on schedule. The client remains focused on what matters. And behind the scenes, a protection specialist has already considered what could happen and planned several steps ahead.

Helix Performance Training: Human first, operator second

A security uniform can look sharp. The person wearing it still has knees, shoulders, a nervous system, and a need for sleep.

In a profession built around readiness, it can be easy to focus on the operator and overlook the human being underneath the uniform. Security work may involve hours of standing, walking or sitting, irregular schedules and interrupted recovery. Then, without warning, the job may require movement, coordination and clear thinking under pressure.

That is why Condor views physical fitness as an important part of professional preparation. Through our partnership with Helix Performance, employees participate in weekly fitness sessions focused on functional strength, mobility, endurance, balance, coordination and injury prevention.

Dr. Jason Izraelski is a sports specialist chiropractor and founder of Helix Performance. His work combines movement, manual care, strength and conditioning, mobility and performance training to help people build stronger physical foundations. Over his career, he has worked with people ranging from members of the general public to competitive and professional athletes.

The program follows a simple philosophy: Build the human first.

Human Function: Healthy movement, joint control, balance, sleep and recovery. These basics may not be the most exciting parts of training, but everything else depends on them.

Physical Capacity: Usable strength, endurance and conditioning—the ability to lift, carry, accelerate, stop, change direction and repeat physical efforts safely.

Professional Readiness: Applying that physical capability to situational awareness, decision‑making, emergency response, and the demands of the job.

Mircom Training and Celebrating Excellence in Service

Knowledge behind the technology. Today’s security professionals work with increasingly complex systems—from fire alarms and access control to monitoring technology and integrated building platforms. When a system reports a problem after hours, understanding that information can make an important operational difference.

Members of Condor’s leadership and supervisory team recently completed specialized Mircom training covering system architecture, troubleshooting, programming fundamentals and operational best practices. This knowledge supports the entire organization. It helps trainers provide frontline employees with stronger technical context, improves communication between operations teams, property managers and service providers, and enables mobile personnel to make more informed decisions during after‑hours responses.

Yoga at Work: Breathe, Reset, Respond

Frontline professionals encounter large numbers of people in different situations, each requiring a different set of skills. The work demands more than physical strength. It requires awareness, emotional control, clear decision‑making and the ability to remain composed under pressure.

That is where yoga—especially Pranayama, the practice of controlled breathing—becomes a practical addition to Condor Security’s training.

The breath is a tool you always carry. During a stressful situation, we cannot control everything happening around us. What we can influence is our breathing, focus, words, actions, and response. A simple breathing technique such as Ujjayi Pranayama, sometimes called “ocean breath,” can help bring attention back to the present moment.

Inhale through the nose for 3–5 seconds. Exhale through the nose for 3–5 seconds.

Train the body. Train the mind. Build mental resilience. Yoga also reinforces three useful principles:

Breathing: Use the breath to support controlled movement and mental focus.

Alignment: Move efficiently and reduce unnecessary strain on the body.

Depth: Work within a safe range instead of forcing flexibility.

Pranayama and mindful movement create an opportunity to shift from constant alertness toward relaxation and recovery. They encourage us to focus on what we can control, release what we cannot, and avoid carrying every stressful moment into the next day.

The objective is not to eliminate stress. Stress is part of the job. The objective is to develop better tools for managing it. Strong body. Clear mind. Controlled breath. Adding even a few minutes of intentional breathing to the training routine before or after a shift can help reinforce calmness, resilience, self‑awareness, and readiness. Because sometimes the most powerful reset starts with something we do all day, every day: take one good breath.

Social Event: Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Building a strong team extends beyond the workplace. Creating opportunities for employees to connect, unwind, and celebrate together helps strengthen the relationships that drive our success every day.

On July 21, 2026, members of the Condor Security team gathered at Rogers Centre to enjoy an evening of baseball. The social event brought employees together from across the organization for a night filled with great conversation, team spirit, and unforgettable moments.

While the game provided plenty of excitement on the field, the evening was really about celebrating our people. It offered employees the opportunity to connect outside of their daily roles, strengthen friendships, and enjoy quality time with colleagues. Events like these are an important part of our workplace culture. They encourage collaboration, boost morale, and reinforce the strong sense of community that makes Condor Security a great place to work.

Condor Security is committed to giving back through meaningful fundraisers, community initiatives and social events that strengthen both the communities we serve and the team behind our success.

Social Commitment: Ride to Conquer Cancer

More than $161,000 raised. There are easier ways to spend a weekend than cycling from Toronto toward Niagara. Team Condor chose the harder one and did it for a cause greater than themselves.

During the 2026 Ride to Conquer Cancer, Team Condor and Team Knightstone raised more than $161,000 in support of cancer research.

The total is worth celebrating, but so is everything behind it: months of training and fundraising, early mornings, long climbs, changing weather and tired legs. Through it all, riders kept pedalling, each motivated by a reason larger than the bicycle beneath them.

Employees, clients, partners, friends and supporters made the achievement possible through their donations, encouragement and logistical support. Their contributions reflect Condor’s commitment to the community and the strength of a team that continues moving forward when conditions become difficult.

You learn a great deal about people when the weather turns and the finish line still feels far away. They encourage one another. They remember why they started. And, together, they keep going.

To everyone who rode, donated, volunteered or cheered: thank you. Together, we rode with purpose. Together, we raised hope.

Alongside organizations from across the GTA, our team took to the court with a shared goal: helping children and families affected by cancer.

Thanks to the generosity of our employees, clients, partners, friends and supporters, Team Condor raised more than $2,050. Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, volunteered and cheered us on. Together, we played with purpose and helped make a meaningful difference for SickKids.

Condor at the ACMO Luncheon

Property management is a profession shaped by other people’s needs—residents, boards, contractors, employees, emergencies, budgets and expectations. At the center of it all is the person responsible for keeping everything moving.

That is why Condor was proud to sponsor the May 2026 ACMO luncheon, “Demystifying Burnout and Self‑Care in Condominium Management: A Conversation.” The event brought members of the condominium‑management community together to discuss burnout, mental well‑being and professional sustainability.

These conversations matter to Condor because property managers are more than clients—they are operational partners. Security is most effective when those partnerships are built on clear communication, mutual respect and an understanding of the pressures each side manages.

Taking care of communities also means supporting the people responsible for running them. Sometimes the most important professional conversation begins by acknowledging that every professional is human.
