Finding the Right Fit
When Van began his job search , he wasn’t sure of the exact role he wanted, but he knew his goals: to gain skills training work experience and grow his law enforcement security skills and enhance his communication skills . That vision became a reality when he joined Condor Security. He now confidently says the role has helped him grow essential skills tremendously, both personally and professionally.
Van Joseph recalls being welcomed by a team that felt more like family. From the start, he noticed Condor Security’s strong commitment to professionalism, customer care, and employee support; an environment where he could truly thrive.
Training That Transforms
Since joining, Van Joseph has completed Level 1 Basic Security Training ,Level 2 emergency response Training and Level 3 Advance Training, Fire Safe, First Aid/CPR, Tactical Awareness – potential threats and situational awareness Training,Supervisor Course, Verbal Judo Tactical Communication and Deescalation , and Customer Service Training. He credits these programs with building his confidence, deepening his awareness, and sharpening his preparedness for on-site duties.
And of all the training courses, the Tactical Awareness Training stood out. It equipped him with de-escalation techniques, situational control, and threat detection skills that have proven invaluable in his role. It taught him how to spot potential cues for a threat to eliminate problems before it happens.
When you were job hunting, did you know exactly what you were looking for?
When I was job hunting, I had a general idea of what I wanted which a position where I could enhance my security skills and my ability to communicate with people. I didn’t have the exact picture of how that would look, but when I found Condor, I immediately saw that this was a place where I could grow in both areas. Now that I’ve been here for a while, I can confidently say that this role has increased my skills exponentially.
What was your first impression of Condor Security when you started?
My first impression of Condor was very positive. I was welcomed into a team that felt more like a family, with strict emphasis on professionalism and customer care. The whole team is very supportive, and I quickly felt that I could thrive here. It’s clear that Condor values both the clients and the employees, which is something I really appreciate.
Which training courses have you completed so far?
So far, I’ve completed Level 1 Training, Level 2 Training, Fire Safe Training, First Aid and CPR Training, Tactical Awareness Training, Verbal Judo Training, and Customer Services Training and on April 25/26, I will attend a Level 3 Training. Each of these courses has given me the confidence and credential to stand as a professional in the security industry and wide variety of tools I need to perform my job with confidence.
By participating in those Condor training program, do you feel you have gained the knowledge and skills required for on-site duties?
Absolutely! The training programs here at Condor have been very valuable. They’ve not only given me the knowledge needed for the job, but they’ve also helped me develop a mindset that focuses on safety. I feel more prepared for situation that might arise than ever before.
What do you like the most about your job as a concierge at Condor ?
What I love most about my job is the unpredictability aspect. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities to interact with people. Whether I’m helping someone with directions, handling a security concern, or assisting in an emergency, I feel that I’m always learning something new and making a positive impact within a small community.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
The most challenging part of my job is what I love most about my job, the unpredictability aspect. Sometimes, my shifts can become quiet where it can be easy to get distracted and then, an emergency quickly arises. But I’ve learned that staying focused and alert to potential issues is key to being successful. That’s something I’ve grown to appreciate more as I continue in the role
Keys to Success in the Security Industry
Van Joseph believes success in security comes down to communication, observation, and problem-solving. It’s about being alert while remaining calm, respectful, and approachable.
His advice? Be patient, stay curious, and keep a positive attitude. Make the most of your training, seek guidance when needed, and never underestimate the value of human connection on the job.
